Burghley Horse Trials are just around the corner! Set in the beautiful parklands of Burghley House in Stamford, Lincolnshire, the beautiful Elizabethan house provides a stunning backdrop to this exciting event.
The event, one of only 6 similar competitions in the world, is a competition designed to be the complete test of horsemanship, separating the beginners from the pros. International riders and horses from across the world are attracted to the event, each hoping to walk away with the coveted first prize.
The three events are spaced over the four days and are designed to be a comprehensive test, examining all areas of expertise in order to single out the one who best presents them. Competition starts with the formidable, elegant Dressage event on Thursday and Friday, where both poise and grace will be examined. Next is the Cross Country phase, an event that is both exciting and thrilling. On Sunday, the event is brought to a fantastic finale with the Show Jumping section of the competition - an event that’s sure to entertain!
The area also hosts shopping stands, plus many food and drinks venues, so you can rest assured the event will have everything you need for a great day! We advise you dress prepared – comfy shoes are a must, plus sun cream and an umbrella – the weather can be quite unpredictable!
