Waddup! I just realised I've never done a perfume post, something which I'm VERY ashamed about since I bloody love a good perfume! I have a cake stand at home (they're really great for storing perfumes if you have a lot, honestly try it!) FULL of perfumes... I can't seem to settle on just one like most people! I mean what about night out perfume? Summer and winter perfume? What if I want something soft and romantic for a date, or deep and sultry for when I want to feel badass? I CAN'T CHOOSE! So anyway, the first time I smelt Burberry Body was in London at Harrods when it first released in September 2011 (so, so long ago). The guy behind the counter gave me a spritz on the wrists (and told me off when I rubbed my wrists together to spread the fragrance... apparently you're supposed to tap, something I still do today so guy-behind-the-counter, if you're reading, I hope you're proud!)
I got told once that, if you can't smell a perfume on yourself, that means it suits you because it's blending with your natural pheromones. If that's truly the case then this perfume can't suit me at all because I can ALWAYS smell it on myself! I love being able to smell my perfume; I don't want to be overpowering, obviously, but I like the idea of leaving a bit of a scent behind me, almost like a trademark! And scent is such a big deal for me; I've fancied guys purely because they smelt amazing. It makes SUCH a difference and I'm always conscious that perfume helps finish any outfit. Fragrance is such as easy way to change the mood of whatever you're wearing. Fragrance can be intense, deep, woody, soft, fruity... there are so many beautiful variations!
Anyway, I digress! Burberry Body is, "a sensual, feminine and effortlessly elegant fragrance for women" with "an eclectic combination of refined ingredients: fresh green absinthe and illuminating peach with a base of woody cashmeran and musk". I always think trying to describe scent it INCREDIBLY difficult (I mean why else would the brand advertisers make such weird perfume adverts?) But I'm not one to shy away from a challenge, so here's my attempt! Burberry Body is a strong fragrance; I'd have to disagree with the comment about it being effortless, as I think this is a stand-out fragrance, something to be noticed. It's warm and woody once it's been on for a couple hours, but on application it's quite a heady, almost floral scent (assume that comes from the peach!) I usually hate peach in fragrance, but for this it works (I think because it's an undertone and softens out after a while). I've been wearing this perfume in the office every day and it's made me fall back in love with it! I'm upset with myself that I've ignored it for so long; the glass bottle is so beautiful and timeless (and weighty, which you'd expect from a product you'd spent £££ on!)
Overall, it's not a fragrance for any wallflowers, but if you like noticeable, warm fragrances, I'd seriously give this a go! Meli X
