Well helloooooo, and welcome back to my blog - or, if you're new, welcome! Today imma talk to you about this little treat; the SkinYoga Sandalwood & Saffron Face Mask!
SkinYoga are a fab new brand that are quickly getting noticed by the media (check out there website - they've been featured heavily in some huge publications!) They originate from India and are pretty new to the UK; they take inspiration from ancient Indian remedies to create beautiful natural products ideal for any skin type! Firstly, let's talk about the packaging because - let's face it - it's pretty unique!
As you can see, it comes in a WOODEN BOX. Never before have I had a product arrive in its own little cute wooden box! I think it's such a fab touch (and the box is currently sat at home waiting for a new purpose... I can't bring myself to throw it away!)
This item screams premium - and to be fair it ain't cheap at £27, so I was very glad to see such a beautifully packaged item. I can't stand when you pay a small fortune and it arrives in a crummy tube!
So this face mask actually arrives in powder form. The idea is you add a little bit of water to it in the palm of your hand, creating a paste you can then layer onto your face. The Sandalwood Saffron Face Mask is supposed to: - Remove wrinkles and dark spots
- Improve skin texture
- Make skin "lighter" and more radiant - Regenerate skin - Improve skin elasticity - Increase skin hydration - Help boost circulation They advise using it "before a big night out"... which is exactly what I did!
I found the little wooden spoon quite helpful in picking up (what I assume) is the correct amount of product. This stuff smells really strange... I expected it to smell floral or sweet, but it smelt more like a cake mix without the sugar if that makes sense! The texture is like bread crumbs.
So as you can see below, I took a spoonful of product and placed it into the palm of my hand. This stuff gets EVERYWHERE! So, so messy, especially when you then try to add water and mix it into a paste! There were weird crumbs all over the sink afterwards, I had to give it a good clean. I'm going to find a little pot of some description to mix this in as I think there will be less waste and mess.
Brace yourself for what this looks like on, because... it ain't pretty!
It was also a bit of a faff to get on! It was like trying to put cake batter on my face, there were bits sliding off and going everywhere... it did dry well though, hardening slightly and making my face feel tight.
Afterwards, I thought my skin felt... nice! It washed off easily and I followed it with a deeply hydrating moisturiser. I love a good mask, and I will definitely be using this again... but I do think it's a bit more effort than a standard mask! It's a little bit messier and fiddly to put on, but it did leave my skin feeling tight, cleansed and soft. I'm interested to see the long-term effects this mask has on my skin! You can buy SkinYoga from Naturally Better You for £27!
