Heyyyyy!
So I thought I'd touch on a new brand I've never tried before today! Banks-Lyon Botanical have been in the business for a long time. "...With our love of natural skincare and with over 125 years of heritage behind us we strive to offer the best products with all natural ingredients, essential oils, plant extracts and botanicals. Never tested on animals and always free from SLS, SLES, chemicals and parabens."
The products that have always stood out to me by this brand are the bath salts. They come in beautiful, expensive feeling glass containers that look fab on the side in the bathroom. All their ingredients are natural and pure (obvs), and their salts are Dead Sea salts. I decided to try the Damask Rose Dead Sea Bath Salts and the Lavender & Ylang Ylang Dead Sea Bath Salts (normally the sort of scent I shy away from!)
The Damask Rose Dead Sea Bath Salts have actual bits of dried rose in - a nice touch! - and is supposed to, 'uplift, energise and refresh your body'. Well I'm always tired and sore, so this sounded great! Upon opening this, the first thing I noticed was (obviously) the smell. It kind of smells... old. Like a grandma's bathroom. Which didn't put me off - I have a penchant for old-smelling perfumes, so I was willing to give this a go! Besides, it was kind of a homey, familiar scent that felt comforting and lovely... Anyway, I dumped a tablespoon of bath salts into the bath and waited for them to dissolve. The scent wasn't actually as strong as I thought! It was lovely to see bits of rose petal floating about in the water - very luxurious feeling, a bit spa-like! In my opinion, this was more relaxing than uplifting... I would use this before a night out (calm before the storm, and all that!)
The Lavender & Ylang Ylang Dead Sea Bath Salts actually smells stronger of Ylang Ylang than I anticipated! I thought this was going to smell so strongly of lavender there wouldnt be much point in the ylang ylang, but I was pleasantly surprised... the ylang ylang scent comes through more strongly, the lavender is more of an after-smell! Kind of an odd, jolting sensation when you're expecting to smell something so familiar and it smells so different... but in a good way! This also has bits of leaf in it and was, for me, far stronger than the Damask Rose Bath Salts... I liked this one a lot! It was meant to, 'deeply relax your mind and body', but I felt the ylang ylang was a bit punchier and 'awakening' for me! A nice one to relax with without feeling overly sleepy! Overall, I really like these bath salts! The larger containers are absolutely beautiful and would make a fab gift, in my opinion! Meli X
