Hey! So this is an interesting product; targeted at people with bad skin conditions and sensitive skin, it's meant to be a saviour for those who can't find products (whether from over the counter, in stores or from the doctor) that do the job. This PurePotions Skin Salvation was hand-made by a mother who wanted to find a product that would work for her daughter, who had extremely sensitive skin and bad eczema, nothing of which would help. She created it using only the most pure, natural ingredients she could find - and to her amazement, it worked! Suddenly all her friends and family were asking for some, too. They've since expanded to sell other skin care products, but this remains their best seller! Here's their description: "Skin Salvation Intensive Moisturising Ointment is a deep moisturiser, also suitable for people with dry, itchy, skin and people prone to eczema. Rich, deeply moisturising and restorative. Skin Salvation forms a semi-occlusive barrier which protects the skin from external irritants."
Ingredient-wise, it contains:
Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil*, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil*, Aqua (Water), Alcohol (from tinctures), Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Stellaria Media (Chickweed) Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract
...so lots of lovely, nourishing natural ingredients! For the best possible review, I asked my friend to try this out - she has eczema, so was the best person to try it and give an honest opinion!
Firstly, the look... it's a weird greeny/yellowy colour. This, for some reason, comforts me - there's clearly no dyes, nothing fake in this to make it look or smell unnatural! I believe them when they say the ingredients are pure! The product is quite solid, so you have to scoop it out with your finger, where it turns a more soft, oily texture once warmed up. Next, the smell - we both agreed it smelt a little weird. It smelt very strongly of olives - which, don't get me wrong, I love - but smelling of it was a bit strange! Obviously this product is totally natural and does include olives in the ingredients, hence the naturally derived scent. Some people might find this a little bit off-putting though, in which case my advice is to put it on at night!
On application, my friend found it a bit oily - something she dislikes in creams. She put (in my opinion) far too much on her hands and ended up with a weird sheen on them. I told her to ease up on the amount used, and try it overnight. After a couple of hours, however, she already said she thought she felt a difference to her hands! I could tell she wasn't a big fan of the smell, so is unlikely to use this during the day, but for overnight use it's perfect. It might leave a bit of an oily-type coating, but if it's sealing in all the good ingredients and working hard to heal the skin, it's a sacrifice worth making, I think!
The smallest tub of this Pure Potions Skin Salvation Moisturising Ointment (30ml) is £7.52, whilst the biggest pot (120ml) is £17.91, available at naturallybetteryou.com. Not bad at all for a product that works! Meli X
