L'Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water Moisturiser - Normal/Combo Skin

Hey guys! So I saw this advertised on TV and despite having roughly 1,895 moisturisers, I reaaaally wanted to try it... so, naturally, I bought it as soon as I physically could. I'M WEAK, OK?! I really love a good, lightweight gel formula that's highly hydrating. Despite having fairly oily/normal skin, it's quite dehydrated and I always find my skin is at its best when I use a product that is very hydrating yet lightweight, too - something that, luckily for me, is becoming easier to find nowadays with the new gel formulas on the market! This one by L'Oreal is a lovely, attractive blue colour with a not-so-attractive, quite cheap looking pump. The bottle itself is glass, weighty and lovely, but the top part is a blue chrome which I think makes it look a bit cheap... sorry, l'Oreal!

Here's what they say about the product:

"Inspired by Asian skincare, L'Oréal Paris Laboratories introduces THE LIQUID CARE. Hydra Genius Normal to Combination Skin delivers pure moisture that penetrates quickly, deeply and continuously – without overloading the skin.

INSTANTLY REFRESHES: Hydra Genius aloe vera moisturiser immediately absorbs; the water-like texture rehydrates and reinvigorates the skin.

INSTANTLY LOCKS IN MOISTURE: The hydrating moisturiser’s formula penetrates deeply for a healthy-looking glow.

72-HR RECHARGE: Hydra Genius Normal to Combination Skin releases continuous hydration and drenches the skin with moisture for up to 72 hours. The Liquid Care: fresh as water, hydrating as a cream."

There are two types of this moisturiser - one for normal/combo skin, and one for normal/dry. I went for the normal/combo skin as I didn't want to accidentally overlog my partially oily skin!

This has Aloe Vera and Hyaluronic Acid in, both fab hydrating ingredients; Aloe Vera is known to be soothing and is rich in essential fatty acids, while Hyaluronic Acid helps to "bond" water to the skin - t can hold 1,000 times its own weight in water, and is one of my favourite, look-out-for ingredients.

As seen above, the gel is VERY lightweight. It's been quite heavily scented - not good is you have to avoid perfumed products - but I personally love the scent, it's very clean and refreshing. It smooths onto the skin really nicely and sits well on top of serums. I find the product very fresh - I can imagine it would be really lovely to stick in the fridge and apply on really hot days, or if you have sunburn on your face!

The formula absorbs quickly but leaves skin feeling perfectly hydrated - I didn't feel like I needed a second coverage as I sometimes do with such lightweight gels. After using this for a couple weeks, I'm finding myself grabbing for this more and more in the mornings as it sits so beautifully under makeup and the condition of my skin is REALLY great right now - not dry, hardly oily! Plus, it's so affordable - it doesn't have any anti-aging properties in it, but if you use a decent serum like me and use this on top, you're taking care of that little problem anyway! Besides, hydrating the skin keeps it nice and plump which is anti-aging in itself! I bought this for £6.65 (barg) from Boots - it's usually £9.99 (still a barg) but it's on offer right now, so if you want to try it I'd recommend getting to your nearest Boots pronto! Have you tried it? What did you think? Meli X
