Review time! Yaaaaaaaay
Continuing with my obsession of all things anti-aging, and taking it back to the good ol' days when I used to work with this fab brand; I thought I'd take a look back at this No7 Youthful Eye Serum! When I worked on counter I never used it as I didn't feel it necessary at the time, however with a bunch of birthdays now behind me I'm feeling like I could benefit from the use of this highly concentrated hypo-allergenic anti-aging little wonder! So first things first - what are the claims?
"Target key signs of ageing for younger looking eyes in 4 weeks. The advanced formula with a blend of Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C and soft focus spheres instantly smoothes, revitalises, revitalises and brightens to give the skin around the eyes a youthful radiance. In addition, an effective fusion of Vitamin A, Cassava and anti-ageing Peptides work day by day to visibly reduce wrinkles including crows feet, improve skin firmness and reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness."
As we all know, a serum is a highly concentrated about of anti-aging ingredients to be used underneath (never instead of) your normal moisturiser. I've been wondering when companies would cotton on to the fact we all have face serums nowadays but no one seems to have picked up on the fact the eyes are one of the first areas to show age and no one has thought to do an eye-focused serum. Well, it occurred to someone and here is the result! This little tube will set you back close to £20 - a great price if it works, pure robbery if it doesn't!
I've been trying this eye serum for a couple of weeks now under my usual eye cream. I use eye creams more as a preventative method rather than an attempt to rewind time - my eyes aren't showing many signs of aging (yet), but they have been a bit puffy and darker than usual due to a bout of illness recently. Fortunately, this not only gets rid of fine lines and wrinkles but also promises to plump out skin and firm it, too, as well as brighten under eye circles. The cream itself is white and thicker than what I've come to expect from an eye cream - I highly advise you tap this gently under the eyes rather than rub so you don't pull the delicate under eye skin.
It feels very moisturising and sits well under my normal eye cream (it's important you still use your normal eye moisturiser as this is NOT made to hydrate and protect like a moisturiser does!) Despite the fact you're putting on two products, it certainly doesn't feel heavy or clogged up - if anything, it feels comfortable. It sinks in well, and you don't need to use a lot either so this little tube should last you absolutely ages! It's also hypo-allergenic, so if you have sensitive skin you're far more likely to get on with this product than some others. So what are my final thoughts? I think this is a good little product. Unfortunately I can't comment on the long-term effects or the effects on deep-set wrinkles and lines, but I can say it feels great on my tired, puffy eyes and has definitely made a difference to the tightness and firmness of the skin around my eyes. If you're looking to up your anti-aging routine, I definitely recommend this product - eyes take a bit of a beating as you get older and tend to show their wear and tear far earlier than other parts of the face. I'll definitely continue to use this as part of my skin care routine, and at only £19.50 I'm fairly certain I'd buy it again! Meli X
