Peptalash Lash Serum - Review

My lashes are shit. When I was younger, I remember getting complimented on the thickness and length of my lashes a lot, but for some reason as I got older my lashes stopped being all luscious and beautiful and instead became... well, practically invisible. They're incredibly fair in colour so, when untouched, it does sometimes look like I've literally got no eyelashes. They're so fair they're actually really hard to tint, too - the dye does't like to sit on top of the lashes so sometimes it can take two or three attempts to do it properly! Anyway, probably due to the many years of wearing mascaras to try and thicken them up has led to them being far less impressive nowadays. I'm totally on the "natural beauty" bandwagon right now, so instead of getting falsies or lash inserts I'm more interested in actually improving the condition and overall look of my actual, real lashes instead. Far harder work and just as expensive, probably, but healthier in the long run I hope!

I tried the vaseline trick (rubbish except for giving them a good condition) and the coconut oil trick (about the sae result except it trashed my eyelash brush) - disclaimer! I spoke to a beauty therapist friend about these techniques recently and she warned me about certain oils, like vaseline, building up under the eyelashes and having to be scraped out by a technician... sounds nasty, so don't do it!

...so I was ready to try something professional. That's when I came across this little wonder!

The Peptalash Eyelash Serum is created to thicken and elongate lashes after a month of use. Here;s what they say about the product:

  • Three clinically proven peptides work together to give you lashes which appear longer, thicker, and fuller in as little as two weeks.

  • Studies show that while the leading prescription lash product may initially show you faster results within the first two weeks, peptalashTM shows better overall results after two weeks of use.

  • No prescription required.

  • Twice a day, apply a small amount of peptalash to the upper and lower lash line, as you would liquid liner.

  • Just two minutes a day yields long-term results.

I actually bought two of these little bottles whilst they were on offer months ago. I have to admit, I was VERY cynical - I really wasn't sure if it would work! However I persevered in the name of beauty (and blogging) to see what the long-term use effects would be... and I was pleasantly surprised!

As you can see in the picture below, the brush on this is really thin - almost like an eyeliner pen - making it really easy to get to the base of the lashes. I noticed a huge different quite quickly to the lashes in the inner corner of my eyes - they became really long all of a sudden, and I was having to adjust my mascara application after years of having such short lashes in the inner corner! I noticed the lashes at the outer corner were longer too, which was great! I'm fairly sure my eyelashes were thicker, though it's quite hard to tell as, like I said, my lashes are naturally really fair and I didn't want to tint them whilst trialling this! I'm excited to try this and then tint them to see if it's made a difference visually at all.

The one thing about this product is you reaaaally have to persevere morning and night. You can't try this for a week and expect it to work, because it definitely won't! If you buy a lash lengthening product, you're in it for the long haul and have to commit to using it twice a day, every day, for AT LEAST 2 weeks - and that's a minimum! You have to give the product the opportunity to work, otherwise whats the point? Personally, I think its worth it. It was easy to incorporate into my morning and night time skin care routine, and I think the effect its had on my natural lashes is worth the minute it takes to apply! Each little bottle has lasted absolutely ages, as you obviously really don't need a lot - a little goes a looooong way! I'm tempted to use it on my bottom lashes too to see if it makes a difference... overall, I think this product definitely works - at least, it did for me - and I'm excited to see how long and thick my lashes get with continued use!

Keep an eye out for my No7 Lash Serum, which I'll be trying soon! Meli X
