Hey guys, welcome back - or if you're new, welcome!
I've been after the Foreo Luna Facial Cleansing Brush for a day and an age, but at £119 (gulp) cheap it ain't! So I cheaped out and bought this one I found on Amazon - for only £13.95. Barg.
However, I then found the Foreo Brush for only £40 in TK Maxx. I thought it would be interesting to see how the two compare...
For those of you who don't know, these silicone vibrating cleansing brushes are designed to be used daily to really work in your cleanser and bring up dirt and oil, leaving skin squeaky clean.
First up, the cheap unbranded one:
As you can see, it's fairly similar looking to the pricey Foreo one. It actually feels exactly the same, too - both are made from a rubbery silicone for hygiene and easy cleaning purposes. Both come with wires to charge them up - the cheap one doesn't say how long the charge lasts for, but it has a nice little silicone covering for the plug area to make it completely waterproof, meaning you can use it in the shower.
The cheap version has an on and off button, and the speeds of the vibration can be altered by the plus and minus buttons next to it. It has 5 speed settings, so you can adjust the level of cleansing you want. Naturally, I went for the highest level - the 5.
Upon using it for the first time, it definitely felt a bit odd - the vibration rattled your jaw a tad, which is a bit uncomfortable. I wasn't sure I was using it right, so I Googled how to use the Foreo - gentle, circular motions. Gotcha.
I used this for a couple of days and found myself getting lazy and grabbing for my super cheap manual silicone cleansing brush. I just felt like it wasn't really getting really deep into the skin, though it did a good enough job of circulating my cleanser around my face.
Here's the super duper pricey one...
Firstly, BOY do these look similar. The Foreo is a bit smarter than the cheap version (as you'd expect); it has a full charge that lasts 5 MONTHS which I was quite impressed about! It also has different vibrating settings, and buzzes every 15 seconds to alert you to change area on your face.
The vibration on this definitely felt... finer? Does that make sense? They felt a lot less brutal on the jaw, and a lot more gentle on the skin. Obs, I whacked this on the highest setting (it has two, a low cleansing and a high cleansing mode) and I felt much more comfortable with this. It felt like it was really working itself into the skin.
I've been using this for a few weeks now and I can definitely see a difference in my skin. This also helps the skin to absorb products better, so if you use serums and moisturisers, this will help you get the most out of them.
So what's my conclusion? I was seriously impressed with the cheap version of this. If you're on a budget, it's DEFINITELY worth it - it looks and feels very similar, though the vibrations are "chunkier" and I felt didn't get into the skin as well as the Foreo. I find that, because the Foreo is so pricey, I was using it more - I didn't want to feel like I was wasting my money - so it became a daily habit far quicker than the cheaper version and I became more comfortable with it faster.
Of course, if you're on a super duper tight budget, there's always this little beauty - I've been using this for months and think it's great! It's also made of silicone, easy to clean, and works cleanser deeply into the skin (as well as giving a gentle daily exfoliation):
You can get one similar for £7 from Tarte.
