Hello!
Today's post is another By Terry review. After I wasn't enamoured by the first product I tried by them (read the review of By Terry Rose de Baume here), I wanted to try out another of their products as everyone else seems to love them so much!
I chose to try their Hyaluronic Sheer Rouge Hydra-Balm Fill and Plump Lipstick (jeez, what a mouthful), which retails at an eye-watering £29 (By Terry is NOT for the light of purse!) I got the shade "Baby Bloom".
Firstly, the packaging. It comes in a very Estee Lauder-esque box, and the bullet itself it a slim silver tube. It's quite lightweight and practical, but not very expensive feeling.
The balm I chose is a lovely pinky colour I thought would be perfect for summer. As always, here's the website spiel:
"Infused with hyaluronic acid, this melt-in lipstick balm moisturises, fills wrinkles, boosts volume, smooths and protects the lips. Creating a glossy veil of colour, it naturally plumps lips while bringing a fresh, healthy hue."
Pigment-wise, it's sheer and buildable, though you'll never get solid colour. Having said that, it's exactly what it says on the tin so far, so lets see what it looks like on!
Here's the By Terry Lipstick in Baby Bloom on my lips. Thoughts?
?
...?
Well! The first time I applied this onto my bare lips, I had to use a mirror as it stuck to dry patches (even though my lips aren't particularly dry) and the colour was really uneven! I used my finger to spread it more evenly before applying a second layer, where the same issue happened. VERY annoying for a product I expected to be able to swipe and go!
The colour itself is very pretty. This lipstick has quite a strong scent (it reminds me of the sweet Love Hearts), and it isn't unpleasant. Wear-wise, it wears ok, kind of what you'd expect from a lightweight lipstick!
Being completely honest, it's a nice lipstick but WAY overpriced. Did I notice the hydrating properties? Not really. Did I see any plumping action? Nah. Did it fill wrinkles? Yes, but with more pigment, making the lip colour look patchy and uneven.
I don't know what it is with this brand - it seems to really hate me! I'm desperate to like it as I see so many good reviews, but for me the cost is just SO not worth it.
Do any of you recommend a By Terry product I would find impossible to not love? I'd love to try it! Melissa x
