Sorry for the blue cast on these pictures, I was using a new set of lights (which clearly need new bulbs) and I couldn't edit it out afterwards!
I love a good lip balm and this one by Antipodes really caught my eye because they claim to be 'scientifically validated natural skincare'. I love the idea of natural skincare, but I'm always a bit dubious because 'natural' can refer to anything... I mean, asbestos is technically natural and you wouldn't slather than on your face, would you!
Having said that, this brand is one of the rare few that means what they say. They're known for their organic and high-quality ingredients that focus more on performance than anything else. They're also ethically friendly and look for sustainability where possible. Me likey!
The Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Lip Conditioner is the first product I bought from them. It costs around £11.99 at the moment on LookFantastic, which isn't the cheapest lip balm known to man, but certainly isn't the most expensive, either.
It comes in a chic-looking lipstick bullet, which I love. It also has a cheeky slogan "I'm so healthy you could almost eat me" running along it.
Here's what the website says:
"This nourishing formula blends the bioactive botanical ingredient kiwi seed oil with nutrient-rich avocado oil to help keep the skin of the lips healthy and hydrated. Ultra-rich in Vitamin C and Omega 3, this conditioner helps to keep lips soft and plumped in appearance because it protects against water loss and increases the surface lipids".
This was a great daily lip moisturiser. It left lips hydrated but looking like they had nothing on - it's the sort of thing your boyfriend can borrow. It's colourless and fairly odourless too. It's altogether impossible to dislike - it does exactly what it describes, it has no nasty ingredients and it's very usable.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to finish this tube. I got into the habit of putting this in my pocket to carry around with me, and... I forgot it was in there. I chucked my jeans into the wash, which was then followed by around an hour in the dryer. By the time I discovered my poor lip balm, it was a melted smush inside the tube and I had to throw it away - sob! :(
If I came across this product, I would buy it again. For now, I'm more interested in trying out their other products which seem to get amazing reviews online. I would love to try their Manuka Honey Mask and their Baptise H20 Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel. They also have a Night Replenish Serum which looks great!
What do you think of the brand - is there anything I should try out?
