Hey folks!
This product has been on my radar for a while now but I never got round to properly reviewing it. Since we're all quarantined-up, I figured now is as good a time as any!
Lacura is a beauty brand by supermarket Aldi. They're well-known for stealing popular products and creating their own cheaper version of them.
If you ignore the fact what they're doing is incredibly poor form and morally awful, some of their dupes have been pretty damn good in comparison to their expensive, legit counterparts. This clicky concealer pen (which is obviously a rip-off of the YSL Touche Eclat concealer pen) came out and everyone went mad for it - not surprising, considering the attractive price gap! The YSL retails at around £27, while the Aldi Lacura one is around £4. (I just went on their website, however, and it looks like it may have been discontinued!)
It may look like the popular Touche Eclat, but does it perform as well?
The packaging is remarkably similar, as is the clicky aspect of the product. After pumping the button a couple of times the product comes out of the small brush, allowing you to apply directly to the skin.
The Touche Eclat concealer is most commonly used for brightening under the eyes, so I used the Lacura dupe in the same way to test its effectiveness.
I applied it via the brush and used a Beauty Blender to blend it in.
In the above picture, I have applied it to my right undereye (the left side of the picture) and left the other side without. Looking closely, there is definitely a difference! It appears to have provided decent coverage whilst still looking like skin. I was actually really impressed; I expected the product to be watery or cakey with a poor blend, but I was wrong!
The colour is also exceptionally good for a cheap product. Usually, cheaper products have an orange cast on their lighter shades, but this had a good balance between yellow and pink which is far more suitable for my skin tone.
This is not the sort of product you can use to cover spots or excessive redness - but then, neither is the Touche Eclat. For people on a budget, this is a really great concealer for under the eyes or anywhere you wish you brighten up.
However - can't help but feel uncomfortable because this is such a copy of the Touche Eclat concealer. I dislike when people or companies steal other people's good ideas, it's a bit of a pet peeve.
Pricier items also tend to have higher-quality ingredients in higher amounts, though this isn't always the case, which is why it's important to check the ingredients list and do your research before splurging your hard-earned cash on expensive make-up or skincare products. Just because something is expensive, doesn't mean it has value!
