Lanolips Lip Balm

Updated: Sep 28, 2023

Hey guys!

Ya'll know I love a good lip product, and when Rose Huntington-Whitley said she loved using Lanolips, I was immediately game. I mean, she has huge amazing lips, so if this works for her it must be good!

I really wanted to try the banana one but it was sold out :( so I opted for this strawberry one instead.

Here's what the brand says:

'We're Australian owned & based in Sydney. All our products are made with lanolin – a deeply moisturising oil naturally occurring in sheep’s wool, humanely (& cruelty-free) sourced from sheep & their farmers.  We are proud to support local farmers - we only use lanolin from Australian & New Zealand wool. Lanolin is a natural, renewable & sustainable resource.

No petrolatum.  No parabens. No artificial fragrance. No mineral oil. No sulfates.  No PEG's. No animal cruelty.  NO MORE DRY SKIN'.

I know a few years ago a lot of people really started hating on lanolin because people can be quite allergic to it, so if you're new to this product test it on your wrist first, just in case!

Obviously, my one smells like strawberries. Texture-wise, I have never seen a product like it before - it's really thick, but melts when it is warmer, so you have to be mindful of the temperature because if you squeeze it too hard thinking the product is in a more solid form it will shoot out all over the place! It's yellow in colour and, depending on whether it's melted or not, it can feel thick and ever so slightly tacky, but it soon melts to your body temperature.

When I first applied this I was really worried because it felt so thick and sticky! But as it melted down, it became reaaaally nourishing. It provides what feels like a really protective coating on the lips, and it looks really pretty on, too. Unfortunately, this is one of those avoid-wind-at-all-costs lip products because your hair will 100% stick to your lips if it's windy. But aside from that, it's a really pretty product and it definitely works to hydrate my lips! I also love the smell and it is really affordable - around £9.

Would I buy it again? Yes, I think I would! I find the tube a bit annoying and would prefer a nicer applicator (my tube actually ended up splitting, so product seeps out now), but I really like how this smells and feels. You can even use it on dry patches of skin, so it's a good all-rounder. I'd love to try their other scents (particularly the banana one...)
