Missha Essence Sun Milk SPF 50

Hello!

Let's talk SPF. We should all be wearing SPF on our faces every single day if we're serious about anti-ageing and keeping our skin safe from harmful rays. Even on a cloudy day, if you can cast a shadow on your skin you are getting potentially harmful UV rays that not only cause wrinkles and sun spots but can also cause skin cancer. Not worth it!

As a natural redhead, I am more prone to burning and skin cancer than non-redheads due to my fair skin, so it's even more important that I wear a good SPF every day.

From my early 20's, I started trying to learn more about SPF and how to protect my skin with good skincare. Initially, I struggled to find a good SPF that sat well under make-up, wasn't too shiny and didn't cause spots. I remember going on holiday with one tinted facial SPF by Tropic (an excellent brand btw, I believe they have since re-made this product) that was so shiny it looked like I'd smothered bacon fat over my face! I had to use a powder on top every time I wanted to go out which was a bit of a nuisance as I usually hate powering and I wanted glowy-looking, but not oily, skin for my pool-side look.

I also remember using an "invisible" face SPF by Roche-Posay which an oily-skinned friend swore by, but which broke me out like crazy. Clearly I was going to have to do some research and figure out which SPF would work best for me.

It's advised we all wear a minimum of SPF 30 on our faces every day, but I go for SPF 50 regardless of how sunny it is because:

- I'm hella pale

- I burn easily

- I don't want my facial freckles to be too dark ( I don't mind them over my nose but I don't particularly want them anywhere else)

- I don't want premature wrinkles

- I don't want sunspots

I decided to look into Korean skincare as they have very advanced technology when it comes to skincare and they take their SPF very seriously as they covet a pale-skinned look. I came across this Essence by a company called Missha in a magazine and, reading the excellent review, decided to give it a go.

I got this for around £15 on Amazon which I don't think is a bad price at all. The reviews online were great, so I was excited to try it out.

It smells like what you'd expect an SPF to smell like except it is somehow more subtle and less in-your-face; basically, it's not bad at all. The consistency of the product is very fluid-like (which you'd expect from a "milk").

So how did I find it?

I'm now onto my second bottle of this stuff. It's been brilliant for me - it smoothes onto the skin almost in a primer-like way, leaving the skin feeling hydrated yet not too shiny at all. It's been great under make-up and hasn't broken me out (result!!)

I've been seriously impressed with this product and I'll definitely be buying it again and again - it ticks all the boxes I require from an SPF I need to use daily. It doesn't make wearing an SPF too much of a hassle (unlike some that I've used). I highly recommend it, particularly if you're prone to breakouts and you don't want anything too shiny or too matte.
